A3 Lochs Print by Ploterre

The fascination to delve deeper into Lochs began with a fact about Loch Ness. If you were to empty all the lakes of England and Wales into Loch Ness, it still wouldn't be enough to fill it.

The search for data was equally as interesting. One of the first data sources I came across was the Murray and Pullar survey of 1897 - 1909. This contained a wealth of information but I assumed there would be something more recent.

After much searching, nothing rivals the information found within their research. 

The print uses information from this survey to illustrate the length, area, volume and depths. Out of the 562 lochs surveyed, 20 of the largest lochs in terms of these collective measures are used here. The lengths, area, volumes and depths of these lochs are shown through the height of the trees, mountains and loch reflections.
